First Baptist Brunswick is hosting a FREE Saturday workshop on February 27th - Protecting Your Children in a High-Tech World – from 9 AM until 1 PM. REGISTER NOW for this informative event which will equip parents to (1) install filtering and monitoring software on their computers, (2) teach their children responsible digital citizenship, and (3) implement safe practices for computer and mobile phone use in order to protect their children from predators and pornography. Complimentary childcare is provided by reservation on a first-come, first-serve basis.
For parents bringing children in 1st to 5th grades, this age group has the option of attending a children’s computer class that teaches safe digital citizenship and provides age-appropriate educational websites to enjoy. For conference and childcare reservations call FBC Brunswick at 912-265-4150 or register online at www.fbcbrunswick.com/childsafety.
SATURDAY WORKSHOP SESSIONS (Adults only)
Carol Urton of Web Wise Kids will demonstrate safe practices for web navigation, social networking, computer gaming, email communication, and even cell phone use, which today’s youth culture often uses for “sexting.” In her second workshop, she will give her personal testimony on how she became a victim of child abuse and how the Lord set her free from her painful past.
Computer consultant Bryant Arrington, in two separate workshops, will show parents how to use computer software filtering and monitoring programs that provide parental controls for personal computers.
FBI Special Agent Alig will provide parents a chilling look into today’s sex trade industry. He will share important tips to help parents recognize danger signals, provide talking points for them to use with children, and explain law enforcement tools available to the general public, including how to monitor the sexual offender registration list.
